Afrika Selatan - Afrika Selatan dilanda kerusuhan. Ratusan toko dan bisnis dijarah. Pemerintah mengatakan mereka bertindak untuk mencegah kekurangan pangan.

Pemerintah Afrika Selatan pun berencana mengerahkan 25.000 tentara setelah berhari-hari penjarahan dan kekerasan meluas.

Kerusuhan dipicu oleh pemenjaraan mantan Presiden Jacob Zuma. Protes dimulai pekan lalu setelah Zuma menyerahkan diri ke polisi untuk menjalani hukuman 15 bulan karena menghina pengadilan.

Protes berubah menjadi kerusuhan dalam skala yang jarang terlihat di Afrika Selatan, dengan bisnis di setiap sektor dijarah, dibakar, dan diledakan dengan bensin di kota-kota di KwaZulu-Natal.

Sedikitnya 117 orang tewas dan lebih dari 2.000 orang ditangkap dalam kerusuhan terburuk di Afrika Selatan selama bertahun-tahun itu.

Kerusuhan mereda pada hari Kamis meskipun KwaZulu-Natal tetap bergejolak. Selama operasi pembersihan, tambahan 45 mayat ditemukan.
