Waduk yang kembali dialiri air ini membuat pembangkit listrik tenaga air yang sudah dihentikan sejak Agustus 2021 kembali beroperasi.

Pembangkit listrik ditutup karena tidak ada air yang cukup untuk memutar turbin dan menghasilkan listrik. Penghentian operasi ini adalah pertama kalinya terjadi sejak pembangunan Bendungan Oroville selesai pada tahun 1967. Ini menjadi simbol kekeringan yang semakin parah di California.

Danau Oroville adalah reservoir besar yang membentang sepanjang 10 mil saat penuh dan menjadi kunci utama Proyek Air Negara yang dibangun oleh mantan Gubernur Edmund “Pat” Brown.
