Wujud Peti Mati Ramah Lingkungan yang Bisa Ubah Jenazah Jadi Kompos

Belanda - Desainer di Belanda menemukan solusi ramah lingkungan untuk menguburkan jenazah. Mereka membuat peti mati yang terbuat dari lumut dan jamur.

Para pendiri startup Belanda Loop Biotech menampilkan salah satu peti mati mirip kepompong di Delft, Belanda, Senin (22/5/2023).

Menurut Dutch News, desainer dari Delft University of Technology bekerja sama dengan museum sejarah alam setempat untuk mengembangkan apa yang disebut "The Living Cocoon", peti mati biodegradable yang terbuat dari lumut dan jamur.

Konsep Kepompong Hidup ini adalah untuk memfasilitasi pembusukan alami tubuh manusia dengan cara yang bermanfaat bagi lingkungan sekitarnya.

Cara kerjanya cukup sederhana, terbuat dari bahan konstruksi yang tertanam dengan koloni bakteri mirip jamur yang dikenal sebagai miselium. Bakteri ini diketahui dapat membentuk jaringan bawah tanah dan memiliki kemampuan untuk menetralkan zat beracun termasuk minyak, plastik, dan logam.

Selain itu, peti mati ramah lingkungan ini juga dapat mempercepat waktu pembusukan tubuh manusia. Apa yang biasanya membutuhkan waktu puluhan tahun untuk dekomposisi lengkap dalam peti mati konvensional hanya akan memakan waktu dua hingga tiga tahun di Living Cocoon.
