Gaza - Perang Israel-Hamas telah menjerumuskan pusat pertanian Israel di sekitar Jalur Gaza ke dalam krisis. Perang telah mengubah segala bentuk kehidupan di Gaza.

Di dekat Gaza, militer telah melarang semua pertanian dalam jarak 4 kilometer dari pagar perbatasan dan memantau secara ketat para petani yang lahannya terletak tepat di luar zona larangan bepergian.

Di wilayah utara, seluruh masyarakat telah dievakuasi karena serangan roket dari kelompok militan Hizbullah Lebanon. Ketika para pekerja asing melarikan diri dan kota-kota pertanian mulai sepi, negara ini mulai mengimpor lebih banyak sayuran. Beberapa petani yang tersisa mengkhawatirkan masa depan pertanian Israel.

Sektor pertanian Israel sangat bergantung pada produk yang ditanam di lahan pertanian yang tersebar di wilayah tersebut, dengan sebagian besar sayuran dan seperlima buah-buahan diproduksi di sana. Pertanian tersebut kini bergantung pada kerja para sukarelawan untuk bertahan hidup.

Ladang-ladang yang melapisi perbatasan Israel dengan Jalur Gaza telah menjadi korban tambahan dari perang tersebut, sehingga meningkatkan kekhawatiran bahwa sistem pangan Israel dapat terkena dampaknya.
