Nigeria - Proyek Kereta Jalur Biru Lagos Rail Mass Transit buatan China resmi beroperasi di Nigeria. Proyek ini membentang sepanjang 13 km dan mencakup lima stasiun.

Kereta Jalur Biru Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) menunggu di stasiun di Lagos, Nigeria, Senin (4/9/2023).

Fase pertama proyek kereta api ringan bertenaga listrik buatan China di negara bagian Lagos di barat daya Nigeria ini telah resmi dibuka pada Januari 2023.

Dibangun oleh China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) sejak 2010, rel yang telah selesai dipasang pada proyek Jalur Biru Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) tahap pertama membentang sepanjang 13 km dan mencakup lima stasiun.

Proyek Jalur Biru LRMT merupakan infrastruktur jalur kereta pertama yang melintasi Okokomaiko, sebuah kawasan padat penduduk di bagian barat Lagos, dan Marina, sebuah kawasan bisnis di Pulau Lagos.

Jalur kereta itu mengurangi kemacetan lalu lintas dan polusi udara, serta meningkatkan kehidupan penduduk setempat.

Duta Besar China untuk Nigeria Cui Jianchun mengatakan penyelesaian tahap pertama proyek tersebut menunjukkan keharmonisan hubungan China-Nigeria.

Kereta ringan baru tersebut akan memangkas waktu perjalanan, meningkatkan kualitas hidup warga, dan menjadikan Lagos sebagai salah satu kota besar paling tangguh di Afrika yang akan bersaing secara aktif dengan kota-kota lain di seluruh dunia, kata Gubernur Lagos Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
